Overview of ACGA Programs and Services

The Alberta Caregivers Association provides a number of programs and services dedicated to maintaining the health and wellness of caregivers.

Caregiver Advisor

The Caregiver Advisor is here to listen, provide information, and help with finding resources and supports. Talk to someone who understands where you're coming from and wants to help.

COMPASS for the Caregiver Workshop

COMPASS helps caregivers balance their own needs with the demands of their caregiving role. The topics include handling difficult emotions like guilt and resentment, managing stress, communicating assertively, avoiding burnout, and finding time for yourself.

Community Caregiver Groups

Community Caregiver Groups connect caregivers with others who are in similar situations. They provide an opportunity to share caregiving experiences and resources in a safe and understanding environment. There is no formal content and attendance is on a drop-in basis.

Community Caregiver Workshop

The Community Caregiver Workshops discuss issues relevant to the day-to-day life of caregivers and their care-recipients. Topics include legal, financial, housing, transportation, and wellness issues.

Caregiver Support Training for Professionals

Caregiver Support Training provides professionals and community workers with the diverse information and support needs of caregivers. Training modules will provide relevant knowledge and tools to work more effectively and positively with caregivers.
